Yeah, m m m m mmm. Hello and welcome to the Villa Park Podcast. It's me Rich back again for a match preview for the e FL Cup or Carabou Cup tie against Man United. And as we've said before, we always seem to draw Man United in the Cup, but hopefully today, well hopefully tomorrow, we're coming at it from UM a bit more of a positive angle. And I have the legend himself, George Foul. They're joining us, George. Yeah, it seems like, you know, if we'd have had this Cup time maybe two or three weeks ago, we'd have been saying we're, you know, we're really tough game, we're probably going to go out. But especially after UM Sunday's game, it's a bit more positive, isn't it. Yeah, Hell I Rich and hell all the listeners and yeah, definitely is matey. It's still Man United just to bring us all back down the boom, and we know still generally what happens, but you know, we've just turned them over on Sunday comfortably, and yeah, you know, it's another big opportunity for us. I mean there's you know, we've only got one more game on Sunday and then we've got six weeks off, so I don't think really there's anything stopping us going full pelt for the for the game tomorrow night, and hopefully we can make it a nice little double. So yeah, obviously, if you are watching, thank you so much for tuning in. If you can leave a like on the on the video and subscribe if you haven't done already. We are well over six hundred now, I think it's six hundred and twelve at last view in George, So that's fantastic, right, Um, and yeah, leave a comment, get involved in your comments. What do you think the school is gonna be? Um? What do you think the starting lineups going to be? We're going to get into all that as we go. Um. But yeah, George, I guess n I amory um Cup specialist, um quadruple Europa League winner. Um do you think that kind of cop specialism can sprinkle and too aston Villa this season? Well you're just saying that Europea Europa League quadruple list. I mean you kind of like you've got a sort of I think Jesus Christ is now you know, how have we how have we managed to pull this one off? You know, we've been trees late is it, But yeah, you know it's um he's got obviously got pedigree in the Cup, as we've just said, so so why not they You know, we've got as good a chance as anyone. And yeah, this' hope memory is taking it seriously this year and we can start off with the bank tomorrow. Yeah, absolutely, And you know it would be I know, I know the season we came up, we got into the final of the of the League Cup and you know, gave man Man City a good game in and probably was a real ray of sunshine in that season. So to come at it now and get and get a good Cup run would just be with with you know, a better squad admitted in much better squad that is under performing. But it would give us that kind of tonic, wouldn't it too, to kind of get some real positivity around around Villa Park. Absolutely confidence breeds confidence. So you know, if we can get another win tomorrow, the players could be buzzing then going into the World Cup break and sort of you know, looking looking past that, maybe it could turn a lot. I said the other day, maybe this could turn our season and hopefully you know that that's what's going to happen. But because you know, there's a long way...

...to go and nothing nothing sort of written. We're not written written out yet. You know, there's still top half, there's all chances f a Cup still to come. You know, there's there's a lot still to happen in this season. So um yeah, let's let's hope we can do the job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, comments coming in, Uh Michael Huggins, Good evening boys, how are you both with Very well? Thank you, Michael, very very well. Indeed, um, Tom got to go for it. Only a few changes from Sunday's game. We'll get into sort of your thoughts on the team, George and my thoughts in a second. And Barry's joining us evening guys. Hopefully not too much rotation tomorrow. So yeah, both Tom and Barry they're thinking we need to go for it and we need to we need to play you know, a strong team. But I guess on that. In terms of tactics and if if anyone hasn't caught it yet, released this this this evening or early evening, um our first kind of talking tactics video with with Garret who's a great data analyst football analysts. So it's only a fifteen minute video, but it really does um sort of bring home how Emery and what tactics he used and what tweaks he made to Villa to kind of get the result against against Man United, And I know a lot of it being made of that kind of four to two two systems that are used with Gwen Dear and Ramsey in behind Bailey and and Watkins and that quite fluid movement. Are you anticipating him doing similar again, like in terms of tactics or do you think like he might change it with ten hard kind of knowing what we what we what we might do. Yeah, there is that, To be honest, I really really don't know. I mean, watching that Sunday, it bamboozabled me, to be honest. But in any ways that normally we're used to the team just being set out from the start and that's the team. Isn't it good or bad? We know the system and they were never good enough to sort of reacting game if it wasn't going our way manager all players. But Emery seems like he's a cut above that and he can just you know, he's there coaching, isn't he It's this is his thing and he's changing it mid game. You know. At one stage on Sunday, I was like, it is Jacob Ramsey? Is he in the midfield? Is he on the wing? It looked like at one stage it was just three of them bombing up the right, Cash, Ramsey and Bailey and it's like, you know who's where? You know you had then Donker almost upfront, mcgigging almost up front. I just kept thinking, what's going on? But you know, I loved it, you know, and ten haagan man United didn't have a clue what we're doing did day either, So but but this time I'm obviously going into this obviously he's had a look at Villa now and as you say, he might sort of now have our number a little bit because that was a bit of the unknown, wasn't it on Sunday? But um, I don't know. Nagging nagging in the back of my mind is our extremely poor away records so far this year. Yeah, And I personally I think he might go a little bit a little bit more safe for this time because as good as we were Sunday, you know what, it did have an off day, I thought, So I think, you know, i'd expect United a much improved United performance. So i'd expect us maybe to you know, go a little bit more conservative. What would you what do you think? Yeah? I tend to agree because you've got to think that you've got to think he may make one or two changes because as I said on the I think it was when Emory was announced or the preview the preview pod before the Man United game, that he's almost said that every players on trial. So and he's also said some quite good things about Morgan Sanson the last couple of days in training. So you've got to assume that one or two players that haven't been picked or weren't picked on some they will play on on Thursday. So he's got to be you know, those personnel maybe can't play that that same that same system. And yet, like you say, you've got to expect a different Man United, you know, one that's going to come at us, you know like we...

...did to them on on Sunday where there Yeah, after four fifteen minutes, you've got to think that they're going to try and come at us. So yeah, he might, I don't know, he might even go with the like a five at the back or something like that. Um, who knows or certainly a four or five one maybe just to contain at first and then and then move from there. It's a really difficult one. And one thinks for sure is that he's certainly off the indications of that game on Sunday. Will meticulously plan for every situation, and we'll plan for how he wants each player to do specific things during the game. So yeah, I think we can expect certain tactical changes when we haven't got the ball from when we have got the ball. So yeah, it's good. It's certainly going to be an interesting ride anyway, and it's not always going to work, but it will, you know, it will certainly be interesting. Yeah, that's it. At least it makes us a little bit less predictable because it I don't know, for a good God, skis everyone about this dog. It's next to his dog in it. Every I come on a podcast, Mate, she comes out and she and she kicks off. It's like she knows what I'm on. She's the number one fan. Yeah, yeah, you know that. M Yeah. But sorry, as I was saying there, um, sorry, what was the same, Rich Grey? What was the point there? I just just just around the just around the interesting nature of the tactics and and just just how Emery will will keep us on our toes. And it's interesting as a fan you see the tax changes that he makes. As I said it up, I know where it was. Now. Yeah, it's all been very predictable for a long time, and you could guess the formation gets the system, gets the personnel, guess what times the subs are going to be. You know. So now we're onto UM, onto the Emery era, and you know he's got a proven track record here, so I think the fans really just have to sit back and trust him. He's the expert in this situation. And like just said, it might not always go away. I'm sure it won't, but you know, the guy's the guy's been there and done it. So you know we've got you've got to trust him, trusting his plan late and hopefully it brings us some success. Absolutely getting loads of comments in to keep your comments coming in, guys, um and yet don't forget drop a like on the video helps us spread the word and get and get get us across the algorithm gets us, gets us getting those those viewers in. So Michael's mentioned after Sunday, I believe we should go there with confidence with the backing of eight thousand of the climb and Blue Army. Yeah, that's one thing about the Cook Games, George, that you get you get a bigger, bigger atmosphere, bigger crowds, you know, bigger allocations. So while there will be Man Man United fans, that quite a lot of them there that are up for it. On the other hand, there's like we say, you know, rather than sort of two three thousand Villa fans, there's seven eight thousands of them there. Yeah, that is some turn out to be fair. I mean I went to Wild Traffic got about eleven twelve years ago when Mackay done us in the last minute and it was like three foursand of us that day. And you know it isn't a ways the loudest is it, But on that day we sounded like we were really good. So god, yeah, times that Bay by two and a bit. You know, it's you know, the Villa fans should make themselves heard. So maybe maybe it will feel more like Sunday than what I did suggest earlier. Who knows who knows? And Barry says their counterattack masterclass income in tomorrow. Um, you know, like I said, we we on that on that video with Gareth, we talked about kind of the x G and it was only not point five seven x G for Villa. Yeah, it was really surprising, um, and it just showed how how much how clinical we were in terms of our finishing because we we had six shots, four on target and obviously scored three goals. So you know, if we can we can make sure when we get into those areas and we have really good character attacks, that puts those players like in front of goal to to have real, real opportunities to shoot. And interestingly enough,...

Emory has talked about Watkins is doing a bit less of that running that I know we've talked about a lot. You know, he does so much work that when he does get in front of the post is almost knackered. And like Emory has kind of said to him, like calm down on that running. There's other players that can do that for for you and help you, because when you're in front of goal, I want you to be able to at least get the shots on target. That's got to be a good thing, isn't it. Yeah, definitely. But that's an interesting point though, because I think I did say the other day. But I always almost think that a lot of that work and the pace of Watkins is it is almost the better part of his game. Yes, you know what I mean, like that, for instance the third goal Sunday that the runnie, the Runnie did there and the lovely crossing that you know that for me, that is Alli Watkins. I don't think of Allie Watkins the goal score up. I think of really Watkins the graph that you know what I mean, the team player. I think I think that he sent forward any absolutely, But I think the difference with with that and before. It's very difficult to talk about one game. We talked about one game here and tomorrow could be completely different. But just on the evidence of that one game is we got players in and around him. So when he was doing that run into the channel, he wasn't just trying to do that running into the channel and then trying to fight against three defenders or trying to do it on his own and have a shot. He was he had players in and around him. Like we had Gwen Deer breaking who played the past, breaking his neck to get in the box. He had Leon Bailey getting in the box. He had Ramsey making a late run. He was in the box himself. So you've got four Villa players in the box there and you've got player and he's got options. The differ, the difference was previously again the evidence of one. Yeah, he was isolated, so you know he's gonna more more times out of ten he's going to lose the ball. But if he put players in and around him, then that gives those defenders a little bit of doubt as to what he's going to do, which gives him that little bit more time and space. Yeah, sort of. I wonder whether, like away from home, we've we've tried to be a bit safe and leave the midfield a little bit deeper, and he's been Obviously it makes him look worse up front there on his own than it when he's not getting a sniff. So maybe, yeah, maybe you do. You move the others up a bit closer to him, and I'm try and try and make the other team worry about us rather than us trying to maybe contain them. Certainly when certainly when you're breaking forward at pace as well, you know, we've talked about the lack of pace in the team, but it didn't look like we had a lack of pace moving forward on Saturday in certain certainly in that first kind of fifty fifty five minutes before we got that three one, you know, we were attacking with real pace and purpose. Yeah, I mean both. Now we've got Bailey and Ramsey both playing in the team the other day, they're both quite barely especially you know, it gives us a bit of more of dimension, doesn't it. Pace wise? You know, we've looked pretty much very slow season and pedestrian. But yeah, that was much more, much more like it Sunday. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely, I agree. I agree. So a couple more comments, Allen's tuning in says, I think they will elbow us out of it tomorrow extra man with the ref as as well. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, and maybe Bruno Fernandez will be back for them as well. So that's always a difficult one for us because he generally gets a penalty. Um yeah. A couple of a couple of them comments on like team changes and we'll get your team up in a minute. Um so Mark super Mark says, I think we'll go strong. I kind of think he might bring Marvels in to replace Den Dunka and I think Manure will make a lot of changes. Tom also confirms that Den Dunker's cup tired and John Steele's join us says, hopefully a few changes. We need to beat Brighton on Sunday, so I think I think a few changes will be made. Obviously Den Dunka has cook tired, um bedn X Cook tied as well, which which he probably would have played UM. But yeah, I...

...mean we'll get your your team up, George, just have a just have a little talk to talk us through your thoughts on on that team. Yeah. Well it was a tough one, really is. I said, it's a bit we're in sort of unknown territory at the moment with the new manager, and the changes I've made here were just purely on the fact that Emery needs to see these players sooner rather than later, especially like before the World Cup coming. So I just thought, you know things, He banged a couple of goals in the other week, didn't the game against Brentford yet, so you know things for Watkins for um John mcgin obviously has been dropped sort of high profile absence the last few games. Really he needs to be looking at his captain, so i'd expect him to come in. Other than that, I think that was that was all I changed. Wasn't it Young in there for Luca Dean. I'm sorry, I don't know what I've forgotten. Dean was even back fit. But yeah, that could be overaw mates be fair. Yeah, yeah, well I think that's that's probably fair. I would I would have I would suggest maybe Callum Chambers might play. I did think that constantly, Rich Where would you haven't know what? In football? Maybe maybe in conser Yeah, I think Ming's will play. I think it's a toss up between Young and that Augustinson. Because he was back on the bench on Sunday. I think you think you've got maybe yeah, and it's obviously Kamara coming back, but I wouldn't say he was ready to start yet after a long day off. Yeah no, no, I mean either he might he might even he might even save him for Sunday potentially. I think, yeah, it's great to have these options. I think I think McGinn or player. I think you're right there, and I think Danny Ings will play. Whether that's the formation. I think he brought McGinn on further forward the other day, so whether that's the formation he goes with not too sure, interesting to see whether because obviously mgins has always been like engine rooms, entral midfield the whole time we've had in for Scotland. He plays a bit further forward, isn't he. But we've always sort of thought that we've got better options in the attacking positions. Obviously Continuo is now out for a while, so maybe there is a space of McGinn a bit further forward. So I think we've not really seen since maybe the early championship days. Yeah, exactly, So yeah, it's definitely great to have those options. And I think you know, we haven't mentioned Sanson there. Maybe maybe Morgan Samson might play and he could even go with that for too too too he might go. He might maybe go Louise and Marvelous as that those pivots like the two holders, he might go and mcgin McGinn and Ramsey on McGinn and Samson, and then he might go Bailey and Ing up front. Who knows anything, I would say their physicality and height is it could be an issue. Yeah, I've seen the canber. You know, most of us on this pod are quite a big fans of him. But I don't think he's kicked up all this season yet he No, No, it would be a different caught one for him to start, wouldn't it. It would be a difficult one when he hasn't played at all. Um. I think Cameron Archer as well, wasn't on the bench on Sunday. I don't know if he's carrying an injury or not, but I think it would be great to see him get some game time, wouldn't it. Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of like been lost in shuffle a little bit here. You know, there was all this high hopes that the start of the season, we're all sort of pushing him as like our breakout start of the season. But you know, one way or the other, he hasn't really got his chance. And if I was a betting man, I would say that we'll bring another striker in January and Archer will be out on loan. I think, yeah, that's not a bad shout at all. I think definitely game time would really help him, um, and that really benefited him at Preston, And you know, I'd love for him to come back firing, but alone period at the very least boost his value up and depending on what Emory wants, to do. You know, you get you get, you get cash in for these players, don't you. You know, imagine after him in the summer, so...

I think, yeah him, yeah, just boost his price up. So you know it's one of those. But we don't want that obviously. But you know, in the cold light a day were in terms of in terms of business, then these younger players, you know, ultimately they're even getting to getting your first team or you're going to sell them for extra money, aren't you. Yeah, it was just them. Just caught a bit at the start of the Man City Chelsea game and it was showing all the youth players that Man City have sold over the last couple of years. But everyone sort of says old city, you know, billionaire city, which is true, but they make some good money on their youth. You know, there was a whole lot two paid list of the players game for like anywhere between about twenty million and two million over the last couple of years. So it's good business. But I'm really absolutely you know, and Chelsea did it made millions out of it, and it was it was almost what what we look like Villa were going to do when they know they started signing all that and they've changed their strategy a little bit of be interesting to see whether they go back to that kind of almost farming young players a little bit. So it'd be interesting to see what happens there. M Barry with regards to the team, as mentioned their Kamara and Louise and the pivot with Samson in front could be a good option. And yeah, I think that would be. I think that would be That wouldn't be too bad at all. But yeah, we're all we're all kind of intrigued and sort of interested to know what formation is going to play, how he's going to approach the game, which he's you know, like you said, it's really it's really refreshing almost because, like you said before, with previous managers, you know, even even the Dean Smith era into the Stephen Jerard era, we knew it was four three three. We knew what we were hoping for, and we knew what was going to happen. Whereas yeah, exactly exactly, and if you manage to get a goal and one, you were just going to try and hold on to it as best you can, Whereas you know, we were we seem like we've got certain game plans, we've got game plans within a game depending on the situation, which is which is really good what you think he said earlier. But what was so excited about Sunday was it's like we were one formation with the ball and then we were like something else. When we didn't have it. It was just like Wow, you couldn't take your eyes off it because you know, how has he managed to install that in like three days. About the draining, that's amazing exactly, And I guess it shows kind of if you place high expectations on players, then they need to rise up to then't even need to raise their standards to live up to that, or you'll get someone else in um you know who will do it. And and also it's if if players are if you see success, you know as a footballer, a manager can come in and do whatever, like fair enough, he's got a pedigree, can throw his medals on the table. You're going to get initial amount of listening, just like Gerard when he came in. You know, big name, best player, one of the best players ever in the Premier He's going to initially get get you buy in. It's once they get the feet under the table that you've got to keep that, you know, you've got to keep that credibility going. That's that's the key. So this this kind of break when we when we go for this midseason break, and what he instills in the players during that time is vitally important for then how we come back into January. Because you know, once the players see some success with what you're doing and what you're asking them to do, they'll continue to do it. But if if it starts to drop off and you start to kind of you know, to get some bad results or you're starting to confuse them, you'll soon lose them and they'll start reverting back to what they were doing before. Exactly because like resilience has definitely been the weak point for the season. You know, it doesn't say much for us a lot to just sack the game off, does it, And like, oh, it's not gonna be our day to day and they all sold and go into their shelves. And that's that's the only thing that's sort of like we've had a few false well, I don't know if you call them full storms, but like the Brentford game, maybe the Everton game, and it's almost like all these players just turning up when they fancy it and putting in...

...a good performance and then the next week, oh, Newcastle away. I don't fancy that one fullam away can't be asked tonight, you know. And if that is the attitude, then that that needs to be knits in the bud quick because we can't keep on continually losing every away game because that, you know, will end up down the bottom somewhere. Yeah, I think that's part of that. I think part of it is leadership and resilience, as you said before, and you've got to have that. I think that the Newcastle game was evident that players kind of knew that, and then the coaching staff knew that there was changes afoot. So as soon as it started to go wrong, they just they just Crumbledum. Same with Fulham, you know, they knew something was happening behind the scenes. With Gerrards, as soon as the game plan starts to sort of weighing and starts to wear off, he's just going to crumble. Whereas what you would hope now is they've got a manager installed in for a four and a half year contract, where however, you know that whatever that means, it still means he's going to be there, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, um, so they know that they've got someone there who's a steady, steady influence who's going to make changes, and they've got someone that they're accountable too. So you would hope that even if they do go one kneel down or to kneel down, even the still some structure and still be some you know, something to to cling onto. But yeah, we need to arrest that away away slide and away from him quickly because it can just get away from you and then all of your home all your home winds are almost wasted because you just you just two step, one step forward, one step back all the time. I mean, I mean we're on the ninth of November and we've got two drawers away from home. Yeah you know that Liverpool literally only had that as well, which was stun to see. I know they won on Sunday the beat Spurs, but you know that they'll they could get away with that a lot more than what weekend, but obviously not as reliable as getting the points as they are. Yeah. Yeah, So we'll do a little round up of kind of villain news. You know, there's there's big World Cup um news coming up in the next in the next couple of days has already been one or two squads an ounce, so we'll drop into that in the second. But as I say, if you are watching, please drop a like on the video and please subscribe to channel if you knew. We are as I say on just over six hundred subscribers, which is tremendous. I think two weeks ago at five hundreds, and to get over six hundred already is fantastic. If we can get to that one thousand mark before Christmas, be amazing, and we'll do another giveaway at that So please, like I say, do leave a like and please subscribe to the channel. That be phenomenal support if you can. George, just before I say, we move on to the to the villa round up and and uh and sort of the World Cup squads discussion, quick score prediction for tomorrow and if you're watching in the comments, get your score predictions into um But yeah, what are you what are you thinking for tomorrow? Ms? A good question on I've forgotten we always do this, didn't we? I don't even know, bit of mate? Do you know what I reckon? All right? And we can get a draw here, all right? And men get one one draw and take it all the way to penalties. And when it gets to penalties, mate, it's anyone's guess, isn't it. But hopefully eight thousand Villa fans given it the big one can hopefully get us over the line and we'll get famous famous Martinez, as we know, king of penalties. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, I do fancy as if it goes to penalties, to be fair, especially with him in gold. But I'm going to say hard for one nil win like it mate, like confidence. Yeah, I think we'll keep it tight first half of it be nil nil and then I think we'll get a goal in the second half and then similar to what we did on on Sunday, and keep them at arm's length. I know the...

United fans have kind of been moaned their lack of their lack of depth in their squad. So even if I don't know, Bruno's coming back in, but even if they you know, even if they make changes, there's not a great deal of change that can make you know, um yeah, maybe marciall plays, um, but I think they'll bring some of their youngsters in the gonna want to play their international players, who knows, Yeah, good nights. Yeah, I think you got Harry maguire needs to needs a game anyway, bloody England defender. You know, yes, yeah, I think McGuire will probably play. Uh whatever happened, you know. And when we played him in preseason, remember the lad was it was it Chong who played and he had a really good game against us, and he's sort of like they up about him. He's on loan at Birmingham City. Oh yeah, yeah yeah he's yeah yeah yeah, So no you won't be playing um, but yeah, but they've they've got one or two other youngsters. I mean that guy nactually played the he's a young lad, I think. Yeah. Yeah, so we'll see, we will see. Um, Tom some some score predictions coming in. Tom says one one and we went on penalties. Dreeing with you, George Barry's saying, predicts us to end the curse of last game. He's going three one again, that'll be that would be unreal, Rachel saying, and one Neil to us as well, So she's agreeing with me. So yeah, fingers crossed. We can we can get we can get that result because, like I said, would be amazing to get a good Cup run. The last sixteen draws tomorrow as well, so if we could whether I don't know if it's before or after the game, but you know, if we get a good home tie, we're very ready to get drawn at home and it seems yeah yeah, and Jilly Him got through, so if we could get I know they beat Brentford on penalties, but if we could get jilling Him at home, that would be that would be great because last sixteen jilling him at home. You're talking favorites for the quarterfinals, aren't you, Yeah, definitely, mate, And you know, people sort of I've always hated the way people look down on the League Cup as if it's like some sort of hindrance. But you know, the Villa fans, certainly of our age, rich that we've got rich history in this in this competition. You know, it's the only thing. Yeah, well, both of us. Anything we've ever seen Villa win, isn't it. You know, we had two wins, We've had another one or two finals. You know, I've had some great days out remembering dads at Portsmouth ports something about two thousand and eighty thousand and nine. You know, within four to the semifinal, the six four against the Blackburn obvious. Yea. You know there's been been some great remember beating Norlwige with Paul Lambert against going back to his old club. You know, there's been some great, great League Cup days and I think you know, for clubs like Villa, there's only realistically too things you can ever sniff of winning. So I think you should be taking a bit more seriously and sort of not treated like it's just a paid in the art, you know, when you want to concentrate on finishing about full teenth in the league. You know, I've always loved the league up myself and that nothing would make me happier than to get another run to Wembley. Yeah, and it's what it's why you know, Everton fans were so annoyed, you know, I have to get it after going out you know, with a whimper last night against Bournemouth, you know, losing for one. And I'm sure Brentford fans will be quite annoyed at going out against you know, against Gillinghen because like you say, even if you don't even if you don't end up winning it, I think you know, the last good last few years. Yeah, do yourself justice, you know, because at the end of the day, the likelihood is man City or Liverpool is going to win it. Just the likelihood is a top four side is going to win it. But at the same time, um, if you can get to a final, you get you get your your cliche day out at Wembley and you never know what can happen. You know we were we were a...

...save, got a flying goalkeeper save away from taking that game to extra time against Man City. You know we would right at the end. We had a header I think was Engles had a header and the keeper made a brilliant save. Could have made it too too. You know, who knows what can happen in those games. So, like you said, just doing yourself justice. A great Cup run not only does it help bring the fans on side, but it gives you momentum for the rest of the season as well. I never understand it why teams, um teams like sacrifice the Cup to try and stay in the division, because you know what I mean, And you can bring some young players who you can give other players a game who makes them more motivated. And you also, um, as I say, you create a winning momentum and winning mentality for you side. I'd love to see the stats of teams that like lose the game in the Cup and then like who made loads of change years, and then whether whether they win their next game on the Saturday. I'd love to see whether the stats match up, whether you know, there's a majority of them win the next game, or whether it's kind of just whether they still still end up losing. Yea, honestly, over the over the years, especially like I know we we were down in the championship and the priority was obviously to get back up. But the the what's the word looking for? So I can't think of the world. But Steve Bruce, for example, if he just wrote that leade Cup off he wants, he might as have told the fans, listen, we're get knocked out of this today, so don't bother coming. Yeah, yeah, it was as if it was just I can't be asked with that. You know, we've got a job to stay up, we've got a job to get promoted. Let's just getting knocked out of the Cup and move on as quickly as possible. Well, never mind, you know the thousands of fans that paying tickets to go all over the country to We'll just try and get through and that he really used to really pissed me off, to be honest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well let's hope and as Gaza says, there, we're dying for a good cooper and let's hope that Emery takes it on board, wants to get off to a great start. I can imagine that he wants to get the victory and he's opening interview. You'll be looking at it and you beat in a team that you beat in a man United side that again would be looking for this tournament to win a trophy as well. So you're knocking one of the big guns out, you know, so you're kind of killing two birds of one stone. So positivity going in tomorrow, George. Let's let's make sure that we we do ourselves justice, as you say. Now, just briefly, and World Cup squads um, and from a villa perspective, a couple of squads have been announced already. There might have there might have been one or two more, but the ones that have been in the news, Brazil name their squad um And obviously we knew Catino wouldn't make it because of well I don't think he would have made it anyway, but his injury has made it kind of obvious that he won't. And but Douglas Louise didn't make it into the squad. Fred and Bruno gamares from the from Premier League in terms of midfielders, and Fabrino made it in. And then today the French squad was announced and maybe you come up, Bubba Ka Kamara might count yourself slightly unlucky. He's got himself fit, hasn't made the squad and Luca Dean hasn't made the squad. But from a selfish point of view, for Villa, how does that how do you think that benefits us? Yeah, you know, obviously sad for them because as far as I knew, Luca Deane was there starting, starting left back for a long time. But you know, forgetting that. For Villa really this is it's a golden opportunity now for him very to take the squad away, you know, and iron out his ideas to to the to the players. You know, he's a bit of bombing time. You know, this could be a completely clean new slate now and we could come back on Boxing Day, you know, as if the season has just started again, new manager, new slate. You know, forget all the way defeats and the fact that we're thirteen fourteenth in the league. You know, it could be...

...could be a new doorm absolutely absolutely And garreff salth Gat named his names his England squad tomorrow. Um. It was interesting to see that. I think actually Young was named or is named in the fifty five man or that yeah squad. Um. So it's a testament to him in terms of his kind of form, professionalism, dedication, which is which is second to none, really, isn't it. Yeah, he's done himself proud this year and I'm really pleased for him. You know that is a to me. He's a modern David, a legend now coming back. You know he was he was only really coming in to be a a presence in the dressing room of personality. But you know he's coming. He's taking his chance this season and sort of. But he wouldn't be arguably our best player, I would say, And it was no surprise to me because they've lost a few fallbacks on England that's out. I obviously don't expect Southgate to take him, but you could you know, if he if he was to get picked, I don't think he would let anyone down and that he'd bring a lot of experience with him. Yeah, yeah, Well, I just think he's had a fun like probably even surprised himself at how many games he's played and what an influence he has had over over the squad, you know, and been a real consistent player in that dressing room and still was used on Sunday to great effect. Came on and did really well a couple of really really telling clearances which was which was great. But from a from an England point of view, in a flip point of view, what are you, like, are you expecting a kind of call up for any of our players? Um? In terms of England? Well, I think i'll discut. We discussed it Sunday. Watkins is not going to make it, is he He did have the spot, but it hasn't really been his season really goals wise. I mean last year and he got eleven, didn't he which was like three down and what he's got the year before and the one. I feel a bit bad for his meings because means that he's lost his place on and I'm not sure it's on his own form. I reckon that South CASI just started looking at Samori and Ben White. A few players have just gone ahead of him, which you know, um, sorry, there's another one as well, A palace lad is the palace defenders Mark Mark Gray. Yeah, you know, yeah, they're played to them a lot. But at the end of the day, Means I think he must have what ten fifteen caps. He's played in the last tournament, he had a couple of games in the Euros, and he hasn't really put a foot wrong for Inger in my opinion, and he's a left footer, which we don't have many of. And for me, you know, the problem is with Mings. We all know that his highlight reel isn't great. If if Means makes a mistake, its usually leads to an opposition goal. And that's what I'd imagine. That's what the outside outside of Villa, that's all they see. But we all see no different. And he's had a pretty solid season for me, and I think if he doesn't make it, and I'd say the oddsory probably won't, he can count himself a little bit unfortunate. Yeah, Gaza comments there with Ming's will win his place behind the future, and I do. I think, I think I totally agree with you. I think he suffered almost on the back of Villain, not Villain not playing like Villa's form not being great, although his form like as being pretty good. I know he's made a couple of big year like the Child, the Chelsea one and losing his man against Forest, But I mean if he hadn't have been in our defense, I dread to think where we'd be in the league. You know, you saw him on against Man United, had Ronaldo in his back pocket, did really well against Harland in the Man City game. You know he's done. It's doing really well against the other strikers this season that Ivan Tony absolutely marked him out of the game. And he's a he's almost like a beacon in that box of when a cross comes in, he's getting his head on it. And I think he suffers a little bit because he's one of those hundred percent men is and he's like, you know, he's a hundred percent all in wherevery wins...

...the ball or ever he doesn't. And with those type of players, most of the time they'll clear the ball, but there is that odd time where they won't and it will end up getting smashed into the net or like I said, he misses it and then the defendant that then the Strikers got a clear run on goal. So it's um, it's a difficult one, I think. And I also don't think he's helped by certain pundits and stuff. And I'm pretty sure Savgate doesn't necessarily listen to those pundits. But for other fans across the country, they just think he's crap because a lot of pundits say he's crap, but they don't actually watch Villa. They don't actually see what he brings to the club and what he what he brings onto the pitch, and i'd, like you said, I think it's a shame that he probably won't. Um. Rachel's mentioned there, Um she doesn't think any Villa players, she wouldn't like any Villa players being caught up by England. But Jacob Ramsey is one of those where maybe whether he can make a lay a call or do you think do you think maybe it's an after the World Cup situation for Ramsey if he continues consistent form. I would be very surprised if he made it, because he's lost his place of Villa, you know good. I'd say he's probably only played half the game so far this season. You know, fair play to him come back in Sunday and was fantastic and got the mat of the Well, he's my man in a match anyway, but that doesn't really covered up the whole season. Really, he's not he's not really been at it as a but yeah, going forward, he's definitely an England player in the making. And what Rachel says, they're a hundred percent a grover because the second we see players put on the engine shirt, you can pretty much put about a ticking time bomb on them about a year and you know it's goodbye. It's always the villas, the Everton's, you know, the palaces. They are going to start having players called off and as soon as they do, they they see what those players are, what those players are run at their other clubs and the like I want. They're straight on the phone to their agents saying I want a piece of that. So yeah, yeah, yeah, keep them away as much as possible from the England squad. Yeah, um, but yeah, George Will, we'll be interesting. We'll see tomorrow what the squad's going to be. I'm sure there'll be plenty of debate, just just on the general point how do you think England will do with the World Cup? I don't know what, I really don't know. I mean, this just feels strange. I think everyone else spoke to the World Cups two weeks away, you know, I had to ask someone over those, even in our group, you know, I didn't. I couldn't even remember. There's no fan fairies there. It's all feel strange. There's part of me thinks that the fact it's this time of year and the players are right in the season, it could you know, they're not burnt out yet. Normally come the end of the season our players are suffering from burnout. You know. Now we're only what fourteen fifteen games in, so we could come in and smash it. But at the same time, it's been that we're a bit of a bad run at the moment form wise England, I know, like Nations League and friend these and stuff. It hasn't been going great. Will the climate be a problem? I'm in the air condition stadiums have been sold, but you know, just it's gonna be really hot out there in general, isn't it. So yeah, I don't know. I'd say we've got whether one of the strongest squads. But whether that whether that turns into results, I don't know. If I was to put a marker on it, I would I'd be looking at maybe the Semis. What do you recommend you fancy well, Gaza says, if s Pixie, same old teaming and won't win a game, I think we'll win a game. I think we'll get out of the group. I don't think we'll do as well as I don't think we'll do as well as the previous World Cup and obviously the Euros. I think we'll get to the quarter finals. I think I think the likes of I think they likes to Brazil, Argentina, one of those teams I think, or everyone this time around. Yeah, yeah, so I think we'll I think we'll struggle. Um,...

...but like you say, you know, it's a bit different now. The players will be coming into it a little bit fresh air. They haven't had a full season and then a month off and then back in. They're kind of just kicking straight into it. I think what we'll be telling is when they come back those players that have been in the World Cup come back into their squads, like how long they'll need to have a rest. But exactly yeah, I think we can capitalize. Second, they've got players that have gone you know, absolutely absolutely, yeah, it's going to be interesting and we'll we'll obviously have lots of different shows for you over the over the World Cup break, whether we're covering some of the England chat or the World Cup Chat. We will will also um, you know, do some reviews of the season. I'm sure might be a little little Christmas quiz in the offing as well. We'll see. But yeah, plenty of plenty of shows lined up for everyone, um. And we'll be back possibly tomorrow night with a match reaction show um and then a preview for Bright and so lots coming up, so yeah, please stay tuned. Please make sure you leave a like on on the video, and please subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. Check out, as I say, the video of the Talking Tactics, which will be a regular feature with Gareth. Um, check that out, um, as it's a great little watch for to see, you know, a little bit of insight into what made us win that game, and we'll be doing that for pretty much every game coming up. So yeah, great video, George, Thanks so much for joining me mate. Hopefully we'll get a positive result tomorrow and we're reacting to us being in the next round of the Cup. Mate, yeah, it'd be nice with it and speeding Man united twice in a week. We'll be in dream land. Fantastic, fantastic and as I say, thank you for everyone watching and as always please remember every m m m m s.
